The Load-In Diet: Eat Before You're Too Exhausted to Care
Load-in is where tours go to die nutritionally. You skip breakfast because it is early. You skip lunch because it is heavy. Then you live on nicotine and spite until catering, which might be pizza.
Front-load
Eat a real meal before call, even if it is ugly. Oats, tofu scramble in a hotel microwave, a leftover burrito. Something with protein and salt.
Pocket calories
Keep a bar in a pocket you can reach with gloves on. This sounds stupid until you are on a ramp and the blood sugar cliff arrives.
You cannot PR a load-in on fumes and call it professionalism.
Water
Dehydration looks like hunger and rage. Drink before you want it. Especially in summer sheds and winter halls with dead air.
After the last case
Do not wait for the perfect lunch. Eat the food that exists. Then, if there is time, eat better.
